SYRACUSE — Wawasee Community School Corporation is embarking on a five-year strategic planning journey and community input is essential in shaping the future of its schools.

To gain valuable insights, WCSC has launched a beyond-district-wide survey to understand why families choose Wawasee, why some have left, and why others who live in the district have opted for different schools.

“We want to take a deep look at how we are serving our families—not just from the inside, but from the outside looking in,” said Dr. Steve Troyer, Superintendent for Wawasee Community School.

“There are families who live in our district, pay taxes here, but have selected other schools. Understanding their decision-making process is just as important as hearing from those who are currently with us.”

The survey is open to:

● Current Wawasee families who can share why they chose the district and what they value
most.
● Former Wawasee families who can provide feedback on why they left and what might bring them back.
● Families who reside in the district but chose another school to help WCSC understand their decision-making factors.
● Wawasee staff members who offer a unique perspective on school strengths and areas for
improvement.

This survey is an important step in guiding WCSC’s strategic planning, marketing efforts, and key decisions for the next six months, year, and five years. The information gathered will help Wawasee Schools grow, improve, and better serve students and families across the district.

The survey will remain open until February 28, 2025, and participants will have the option to provide their name and contact information if they are interested in being part of a focus group discussion in March. These focus groups will allow WCSC to dive deeper into the feedback and collaborate directly with families and community members on key priorities.
The survey is anonymous unless participants choose to provide their contact information. WCSC encourages all families — past, present, and prospective — to participate and share their insights.

“The more perspectives we gather, the clearer the picture will be,” Dr. Troyer added. “This is
about understanding our community’s needs and using that information to drive meaningful
improvements for our students and families.”
