Warsaw school board seeking applictions for opening

WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools is seeking applicants interested in serving as the school board’s District 3 representative.
The announcement comes one week after a candidate who was elected in November, withdrew from serving over an eligibility issue.
According to a news release issued Wednesday, state law requires Warsaw Community Schools to promptly fill District 3’s vacant seat for a four-year term that runs through January 1, 2029.
State law requires the remaining school board members, by a majority vote, to fill the vacancy by appointing a person who meets all residence and other qualifications required of a regularly elected board member.
The board is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- An American citizen;
- A registered voter;
- Twenty-one years of age or older; and
- A resident within the school corporation boundaries and District 3 continuously for two (2) years immediately prior to the date of the appointment.
- No felony conviction
- Cannot simultaneously hold another elected office
- If selected, cannot be an employee of Warsaw Community Schools
An application questionnaire will be provided to those residents who submit a letter of interest. Applicants must deliver a completed questionnaire to the school corporation’s administration office or the above email address by Friday, January 3 at 12 noon.
