Wrong-way driver on US 30 injures two

COLUMBIA CITY — Two drivers suffered serious injuries after a crash on US 30 Friday night.

According to a release, Indiana State Police are investigating a crash, involving a wrong-way driver, that happened around 8:05 p.m. on US 30 near CR 700 East.

A Nissan Rogue, driven by 66-year-old Sandra McCoy of Columbia City, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of US 30 near County Road 700 East. It collided head-on with a Kia Sedona, driven by 39-year-old Kathleen Johnson, that was headed eastbound.

Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
