GRANNY CAMPS OUT 43 HOURS FOR ICE CREAM: A grandmother from Stevens Point, Wisconsin camped out for 43 hours to make sure that her grandson would be the first in line for the 2010 opening of the Stevens Point ice-cream landmark. Michelle Cuestas used two vacation days so that her 6-year-old grandson, Brayden Banks, could place the first order. Belt's Soft Serve opened for the year Friday at 11 a.m. and Cuestas arrived Thursday morning. She and her grandson spent the day playing games, reading and drawing. Cuestas said the wait was worth it and that making memories with her grandson in priceless. (AP)

WOMAN ALLEGEDLY STABS EX-HUSBAND: A woman from New Mexico was arrested after allegedly stabbing her ex-husband. According to police, the 27-year-old woman and her ex-husband were at her home late Thursday night when she became upset after looking through his cellular phone. She then pulled out a knife from the kitchen and began swinging. She managed to strike him at least three times. The woman was charged with three counts of aggravated battery against a household member and one count of battery. Authorities said the victim's injuries were not life threatening. (AP)

WOMAN AGAIN TRIES TO STEAL TV AND USE A CAB: A North Pole woman was arrested after trying to steal a television set from a store and then calling a cab as her getaway vehicle. This is not the first time that this 27-year-old woman has tried to steal television sets. She posted bail on a similar case last year. According to police, the woman was charged with second-degree felony robbery and misdemeanor theft. (AP)

KANGAROOS SPOTTED IN JAPAN: "Kangaroo-like" animals have unusually been spotted by people in the Japanese mountain region. There have been approximately 30 reports of sightings in the Mayama mountain district of Osaki. ''People aged in their 40s to their 60s have said they have spotted what looked like kangaroos while travelling to and from work in the early mornings and evenings'' said Tetsuya Sasaki, a local official. Rumors of kangaroo sightings started seven years ago and television crews and newspapers have set up hidden cameras in the area. Kangaroos can be seen in the zoos of Japan and can be imported by individuals. (AFP)
